Lake dredging and restoration works

The edge of this beautiful old lake was overgrown with willow scrub whilst reeds, rushes and willow saplings had colonised in the highly silted lake bed.

Amphibious and long reach excavators were used to clear the margins and dredge the silt which was transported in barges by push tug for re-landscaping on the bank side and regeneration by self-seeding flora.

Construction of One Acre Fishing Lake and Stock Pond

Construction of the first of three fishing lakes to be created on this site began with the installation of a new access track for the fishery complex. The lake was designed to follow the contours of the field and surrounding margins with all material from the bulk dig re-landscaped around the perimeter.

Once the bulk dig was finished, banks were shaped up and a new outlet created on a reinforced concrete pad and stockpiled topsoil re-applied.

Estate Lake Dredging and Bank Restoration

Dredging works were completed on this historic estate lake to remove accumulated silt and improve the long-term health of the waterbody. Following the dredging phase, revetment works were undertaken to stabilise the sandy banks and prevent further erosion, replacing sections of the original bank protection installed when the lake was first constructed over 100 years ago.

New Slurry Lagoon

Construction of a new slurry lagoon on behalf of P Phillips Contractors. Topsoil was stripped and saved, and bulk excavation undertaken to shape the base and sloping embankments, which were compacted. A specialised welded geomembrane was used to line the lagoon to prevent groundwater contamination.

Lake Desilting, Bank Repair/Stabilisation Works, New Jetty & Walkway

Dating from the 17th century, this old mill pond was full of silt and in a complete state of disrepair. A huge amount of silt was removed and re-landscaped, the pond banks were rebuilt using oak revetment and a new pontoon built to replace what was left of the original. A new walkway was also constructed to provide access to a central island that was re-profiled and also edged in oak.

Lake Enhancement and Habitat Creation

A series of improvements were carried out to this beautiful lake in Surrey, including dredging works and modifications designed to enhance both the landscape and local wildlife. The project included the creation of a new island to encourage wildfowl and improve habitat diversity, along with a lake extension lined with alder tree trunks, forming the foundation for a future boathouse.

Full Dam Reconstruction in Wooded Valley

The old dam had been leaking for years and attempts by others to repair it had failed. The spillway had washed away and the dam was in danger of collapsing altogether. We drained the lake, moved the fish and dug down over 6 metres to find old trees that had been cut and buried in the dam. No wonder it leaked! The dam was rebuilt in layers and reinforced using 7 m long steel sheet piles driven in using a vibro hammer attachment to stabilise the toe of the dam.

Some of the specialist plant and equipment in action

The highly skilled nature of our work, often in challenging environments and conditions, requires a wide range of specialist kit, from floating pontoons, barges and amphibious excavators to low ground pressure tracked dumpers and hydraulic attachments such as compactor wheels, hoes and vibro hammers.

Creation of Natural Stone Faced Outlet / Spillway

A new outlet was constructed on this beautiful Hampshire lake. Water was bypassed from the old outlet and a series of graduated concrete pads/steps were created, upon which retaining walls were built on either side in blockwork to reinforce the banks. These were then faced with natural stone blocks.

Dredging of Old Manor Estate Lake

This beautiful old manor estate lake had not been maintained for many years. Silt had built up to such an extent that it was becoming overwhelmed with re-vegetated rushes, sedges and other self seeding plants. It needed some serious TLC. Following dredging and scraping back to the original profile of the lake bed it was returned to its former glory!

Dam Reinforcement Works, Dredging, Revetment and Soft Landscaping

An old dam was in need of some restoration work.

We drained the lake, installed a new concrete toe to the dam and softened it with some native water plants.

Silt was dredged from the lake and the lake edge which had fallen into disrepair was reinforced with oak revetment and re-landscaped.
